Stories of solidarity under coronavirus

Coronavirus hasn’t affected everyone equally. We're sharing stories from across our European and global network of what lockdown and life under coronavirus look like around the world. Hearing from those who are among the worst affected, and how they are taking action.

In only her second week in office, new European Commission President von der Leyen has today set out a major environmental package to set the EU on a new environmental and climate path.

Europe is more dependent on imported resources than any other region in the world. As the global population increases, nations in the Global South expand their economies, and more people lead resource-intensive lifestyles, there is more pressure than ever on the earth's decreasing resources. This reinforces social inequalities and environmental damage.

Friends of the Earth Europe is calling for resource justice. We need Europe's resource use to be measured, and consumption levels to reduce. We recognise the environmental, economic and social benefits of reducing Europe's resource consumption, and advocates for a sufficiency-led approach to resource consumption.
